Project description
This research is part of a an international interdisciplinary project at the Ararat Basin (AB), Armenia, focusing on Pleistocene Hunter-Gatherer: Lifeways and Population Dynamics in the Ararat (paleolake) Depression Armenia. (PI: Ariel Malinsky-Buller and Boris Gasparyan. The research involves the incorporation of landscape evolution as part of understanding past human adaptations. This research is emphasizing the role of geological processes and global climate changes in shaping the landsforms in which sites are found, and in the site formation and preservation. The study employs geomorphological sedimentary-stratigraphic-GIS techniques, backed by cutting edge dating methods such as Terrestrial Cosmogenic Nuclides (TCN) ¹⁰Be-²⁶Al -³⁶Cl.
