Come on baby, light my fire!

Revolutionary new evidence from the site of Gesher Benot Ya‘aqov in Northern Israel, excavated under the direction of Prof. Naama Goren-Inbar, suggests that humans in Eurasia controlled fire as early as 790,000 years ago. A recent study, published in the journal Science, revealed the presence of burnt botanical remains and burnt flint objects. The latter were found clustered together, suggesting the presence of an ancient hearth.
